ABOUT ALBUM

The work created in 2017 by Marco Barbieri, aka DEM666, with the collaboration of Attach and Fabio Piccoli, is a vertical sundial. The non-symmetrical shape of the clock is interesting, due to the calculations necessary for its correct functioning, based on the exposure, inclination and latitude of the chosen wall. In the lower part of the mural DEM paints a shell-universe rolled up on itself: the milky way from the point of view of an external observer. The shape of our galaxy, made up of about 400 billion stars, can be traced back to the golden number, a mathematical ratio that is repeated not only in many natural objects and living organisms (such as snails and shells) but is also used by human knowledge in the sciences and in the arts. A number that the ancients already knew and defined as "divine" precisely because it was used both by nature and by man to create harmony, proportion and beauty. In this work, too, the reflection on the relationship between man and the universe returns, between the infinitely small and the infinitely large that live with each other in a relationship of harmony and proportion, and that repeat each other in the other, governed by the same principles.
