The mural is inspired by a local legend that speaks of the strong bond the people of Abruzzo have with their mountains. Legend has it that Maia, the most beautiful of the Pleiades, fled to Phrygia to save her only son, Hermes, the giant who fell in battle. After a long journey, she took refuge in the woods of Abruzzo to search for the miraculous herb that grows at the foot of the white mountain, the only herb capable of saving her son. Rame 13 decided to depict this story here in Aielli because, beyond its poetry, it speaks of the Abruzzo region and the love of a people for its origins, its land, and the nature that surrounds it.
